We left the Piazza del Duomo and headed for the River Arno. We ended up going to the Piazza della Signoria - a sort of pre check for visits later this week to the Ufizzi Gallery and the Pallazo Vecchio. This is a square filled with statuary, including a copy of Michelangelo's David.
We walked to the Arno and took the obligatory picture of the Ponte Vecchio - the bridge lined with jewelry shops.
By this time Scott's ankle was really sore, so we headed home. We passed by the Piazza della Republica, the former center of the ancient Roman city - now home to an arch and a carousel.
We also spotted the Torre d' Anolfo (part of the Palazzo Vecchio) down one street. That's the neat thing about Florence.... you turn a corner or cross a street and you spot something historic.
The walk to and from the Arno was through some of Florence's best shopping areas - high fashion, and super high prices!
We got back to the apartment to find holes in the wall pieces of plaster on the floor... damage from the work next door. We notified our landlord and had to deal with the owner and her workers. Supposedly the damage will be fixed Wed.
