Helsinki, Finland

Not really!!

Right after we got back to the ship, the Captain made an announcement that the winds that had been buffeting us all day had created a condition where it would be impossible for the ship to sail out through the mouth of the Neva River.

We stayed tied to the pier -- no one could go ashore -- until the tide was favorable.

We missed Helsinki!

About as close as we got was an unnamed island in the Gulf of Finland.

We did have a nice sunset... sailing from dark and dreary Russia towards Sweden.

sunset, from our forward porthole
