A Day on the River

We decided not to take the ship's city tour because it was going to most of the places we had seen Friday.

We were actually at breakfast when it became clear that we were moving.  In between bites I caught a few shots as we got underway, then we went topside to watch.

Out on the river we began to see islands, shipping traffic, pastoral villages and spans ranging from stonework to modern cable stay suspension bridges.

We sailed for three hours to a little village of Volegrad, where we waited for the buses to return from the Budapest tours.  Atop the hill above the village we could see the ruins of Volegrad Castle.

A nice lazy afternoon on the river melted into a nice sunset.

After dinner I was just starting to work on the blog when they made the announcement that we had reached the first and largest of the locks we must go through on this cruise.  We all grouped up to the sky deck to watch the ship pull in, the doors close behind us and the lock fill with water.  Once we stopped it only took about 20 minutes to fill the lock and we were off!
