We are sitting in the business class lounge drinking bloody Mary's... boarding will begin in about an hour. This is the only way to fly. The flight is 10 hours and because of the time change and crossing the date line we will arrive late Thursday afternoon. Next posts will be from Sydney! G'day mates.
our chariot awaits |
Buisness class has separate pods for each passenger. It comes with headphones, your own tv screen, pillows and a comforter, and lie-flat seats that allow you to sleep. I was in row 6 and he was behind me in row 7. For those of you who complain I'm never in our blog, Scott captured me toasting with pre-takeoff champagne.
I returned the favor and got him in his pod.
Here's our departure from HNL
Now if you are going to spend 10 hours in the air, there's not much to do, so they feed us,,, quite well!! We both started with a tuna nicoise salad (small chunks of Ahi tuna) and Scott had beef fillet with potato gratin, green beans and brandy cream sauce and I settled for grilled salmon with braised lettuce, green peas, broccolini and gremolata. (I had to settle because they ran out of the beef by the time they got to us.) And to finish we both had panacotta triffle with raspberries. I had a great Sauvingon Blanc, and who knows what the guy behind me had,
After lunch they turn the lights down low and most people dozed or read or watched first run movies. I watched 3 episodes of an HBO documentary on the Murdaugh family (the one that is currently going thru a murder trial). After 6 hours of quiet time it was time to feed us again. This time pork paninni for Scott and roasted chicken with risoni (kind of like orzo pasta) for me. We both had lemon tarts for dessert. The Sauvingon Blanc was so popular at lunch, they ran out so a good Australia
